Why do think Thoreau found it so necessary to walk through woods? (p. 7)

What do you think Thoreau means when he writes, "We live thick and are in each other's way"? (p. 13)

Thoreau writes:

Every creature is better alive than dead . . . and he who understands it aright will rather preserve its life than destroy it. (p. 21)

What does he mean by this? Do you agree or disagree? Why?

Thoreau describes the voice of the loon as "thrilling." What do you thinks he means by this? (p. 27)
