Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was Born in Edinburgh, Scotland. Scotland is part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain along with England and Wales a union formed in 1707. It is north of England on the same island. Scotland has thousands of miles of coastline that form arms of the sea called lochs (usually narrow) and firths (usually broad). Edinburgh is located at the Firth of Forth, a large firth on the east coast of Scotland. The capital of Scotland is Edinburgh with a population of around 435,000. Scotland's largest city and most important seaport is Glasgow (pop. 688,000). Lock Ness is the largest fresh water lake in the United Kingdom and is most famous for the Loch Ness Monster which supposedly lives in its deep waters. I've not seen the creature yet, but last year I'm sure I heard it.
