For K-3: Professor Higginbottom, the Literary Mouse has a library in the walls of my house. His friends help me learn about literature (audios available). The Professor also has the help of Sniffy, the Hamster, for vocabulary words (audios available)).        

For 4-7: Iris is my guide in The World of Literature where the characters of novels, short stories and plays actually live. I've been there (audios available). Professor Bob sometimes hosts World Literature Theatre or recites Shakespeare.    

For 8-12: With my Time Machine, Lem One, I've visited Emily Dickinson and Jonathan Swift. I've used the H.G. Wells, my spacecraft, to visit a planet in the andromeda galaxy where the inhabitants are solely interested in the literature of our world.

Each grade-level has access to content thatchanges on a weekly/bi-weekly or daily basis. This includes:

Biography, Geography and History: All Literature Units added to the site in Spring 2006 for grades K-7 will offer biographical information on the author, historical facts from the time-period of the author and geographical information that relates to the work being studied. A bingo game that incorporates this information will also be available to print from the web site. Pre-Flights: For the older students I provide information that will help them read and understand the work being studied. This may contain historical information to help set the piece in context or any other information that might be necessary to appreciate the work. Discussion Questions: Factual, interpretative and evaluative questions help students understand what they are reading. Wrap-Ups: For the older students I write a wrap-up essay about the work. In it I write about themes, evaluations of the work by literary critics and various interpretations of the work being studied. Forums: This is a place for students to discuss what they are reading with me and other students. Quotes by the author from additional sources. Additional Reading:Lists of related books for all ages pertaining to the novels, essays, poetry, short-stories and plays we read Important Links: Links to related web pages and sites that pertain to each work being studied.
